Placing a Bid on a Job
-
How it works Step-by-step...
When you find a job you like placing a bid is very easy.
- Make sure you are on the page of the advertised job you’re interested in bidding on.
- On the left hand side of the page there is a field where you can place your bid. To insert the bid price you need to select the profile you are going to bid with and then insert the amount.
Once this is complete a notification of your bid is sent to the person who advertised the job to peruse your price. Remember that people who provide services can also bid on the job and better your price so you may not necessarily win the job. You might have to re-think your price and bid again in order to win over the job.
-
Winning the Bid
-
When a bid is chosen the person who posted the jobs contact details are sent to the person providing the service who will in turn contact the customer directly. At this point WhatcanYOUdo.com.au is no longer involved in the transaction between the customer and the provider. If the job does not eventuate the customer may re-open the job, however, doing so will delete any previous bids that may have been made. The reason for this is that the original job description may have changed and the bid may not be relevant to the new job posting.

Barter for a Job
-
Process explained...
The bartering system was created to give WhatcanYOUdo.com.au users more options. It is a flexible way of rewarding someone for providing a service without having money involved. There are many things you can barter with you just have to be creative.
On the advertised jobs page there is a section where you can insert an image of the object you may want to use as your barter. There is also a field that allows you to name the bartering object and another section where you can include a description.
Objects are not the only thing you can barter with! You can barter with cooking meals, teaching a language, sewing clothes, walking a dog… absolutely anything that you believe could be of value to another person.
Barters are open to negotiation so if you’re not 100% sold on something that is on offer, make another suggestion to the other party.
-
Winning the Barter
-
When the customer chooses the preferred barter their contact details are sent to the person providing the service to contact the customer directly. At this point WhatcanYOUdo.com.au is no longer involved in the transaction between the customer and the service provider. If the job does not eventuate the customer may re-open the job, however, doing so will delete any previous barter offers that may have been made. The reason for this is that the original job description may have changed and the barter may not be sufficient for the new job posing.

-
Your Dashboard has many different features to help you manage your WhatcanYOUdo.com.au content. The information below outlines the Tabs in your Dashboard and the functions they possess.
My Summary
My Summary is quite simply a summary of all the dashboard content in the one tab.
It helps you manage the active Jobs you have advertised on the website for another Service Provider to complete. In this area you are able to edit your posted jobs, delete, and also view them.
In My Summary you can also purchase SMS credits through PayPal and keep an eye on the amount of credits you have left.
And lastly, all of your active bids are visible in this area.
My Personal Information
This tab is where some of your personal stuff is kept. It enables you to change your password, update your Avatar, edit your personal information and update you location.
My Public Profiles
All the profiles you create are managed under this tab in your Dashboard. In this tab you are able to edit your profile to either change information or make it look snazzy. If you need to delete a profile it can also be done under this tab.
An icon that allows you to create a new public profile can also be found in the My Public Profiles tab. This enables you to have multiple profiles to advertise various talents or services that you can provide to people.
My Alert
When you set up a profile you need to enter the My Alerts tab in your dashboard and set up the alerts you would like to be sent to you.
- Click into the My Alerts tab.
- Select the Create a new alert box.
- Firstly, you need to choose if you want your alert type to be by category or location. If you select category then the 10 main category list appears and you need to select one on them. You will need to then select a second level category to refine your alert selection.
- The second step, is to choose whether you would like job or profile alerts. For example, if you are a gardener you would select the Job alert. That way whenever a new gardening advertisement is posted you will be able to receive an alert to bid for it.
- The third section is optional and it deals with payment type, work information and work frequency. And this further refines the alerts that you will receive.
- Next, you can choose the way in which you would like to be alerted and the options are via email, which is free or, a more convenient option is, via SMS. If you select the SMS option you will see that you need to purchase the credit through the secure PayPal system. The SMS facility is supplied to WhatcanYOUdo.com.au by a third party, therefore, we are charged for it which is why you need to purchase credit to use it.
- Finally, you need to name the alert you alert that you have just created because you able to set-up multiple alerts for different needs. The Multiple alert names will be seen at the root of the My Alerts tab.
My SMS Credits
This tab allows you to purchase the SMS credits and keep an eye on your balance. You can purchase SMS credits through the secure payment site PayPal. The package prices are included in the My SMS page.
My Jobs
In the My Jobs tab you are basically looking after the ones you have posted. The first jobs seen are the ones that are active at the moment. You can edit the job here and also delete it. In this section you also have the option of picking the winning bidder for your job.
When you first create a job advertisement it asks you to provide an expiry date for the job. When the advert expires you can still see it in the expired section of My Jobs.
The last part you will see in My Jobs tab are your ‘closed’ Jobs. These are the jobs that have been completed by a person who provides services on WhatcanYOUdo.com.au.
My Bids
You manage all the bids you make, win and lose in this tab. The first section of the tab looks after your active bids. These are the ones you have bid on but are still awaiting approval from the customer.
When you place a bid and win, it will appear under your dashboard in the My Won Bids section. You can also receive an email or SMS alert if you have enabled the alerts.
If you place a bid on a job and it is not selected by the customer it will appear in the My Lost Bids section just so you are not waiting to know if you got the job or not.
